Jørn Utzon's JU1 Pendant Lamp is one of our most playful and exciting designs. The story behind the Jørn Utzon JU1 Pendant Lamp

Although the JU1 Pendant pre-dates his design for the Sydney Opera House by almost ten years, the most distinctive elements of that design are clearly present. Utzon was obsessed with the Naval engineering drawings made by his father. This led to a fascination with boats and sails and how these distinctive forms could be incorporated into design and architecture. Here the sails are designed to break up direct light from the bulb and create a pristine, glare-free light. Utzon's passion and boyhood love for the sea is clear in the JU1 Pendant's beautiful design.
