About the Poul Henningsen PH 3/2 Wall Lamp

Combining the charm an old English lamppost with the skill of a Nordic glassblower, the PH 3/2 Wall Lamp brings elegance and vintage style to walls. The clever design reflects light downwards to eliminate glare and create a soft, warm illumination. The opal glass has been hand-blown into three petal-shaped layers, each one smaller than the first. The underside of each layer has been sandblasted to provide a consistent light distribution. The lamp is attached to the wall by a chromed stainless steel stem and base. This is available in a choice of three finishes - aluminium, black or gold. The iconic PH Lamp collection also includes the PH 3/2 table lamp, PH 3/2 pendant lamp, PH 3/2 Wall Lamp, PH 4 ½ - 3 ½ table lamp and PH 3/2 Academy pendant.

The story behind the Henningsen PH 3/2 Wall Lamp

Henningsen's PH Lamp collection has become synonymous with iconic design and quality craftsmanship. The collection has won awards since it was introduced at the 1924 Paris World Exhibition, taking Gold Medal in the light fitting category. Due to the popularity of this prototype, which is often referred to as the 'Paris Lamp', Henningsen continued to add to the collection. He created a series of lamps of varying size and function, but all featuring his signature three-layered shade and chrome stem. Inspired by a traditional gas lamp, Henningsen added his own Scandinavian influences to the design, making it practical for the home and enhancing the aesthetics. Today, the PH 3/2 Wall Lamp has achieved iconic status and is one of the most celebrated designs in modern lighting history.

1894-1967 (Denmark)

Often said to be the first lighting architect, Danish designer, Poul Henningsen devoted much of his life to exploring the importance of light for well-being. Believing people should not be subject to the direct glare of an electrical light source, he focused on creating lamps that produced glare-free illumination. His self-titled PH series was his most famous collection and included the PH 3/2 Table Lamp, the PH Artichoke, the PH5 and PH 3½ - 2½ Floor Lamp.
